Michel Knudsen was born in Hedensted in 1695 and christened in Hedensted church
on September 29, 1695. His mother’s sister was his godmother. His parents were
Knud Vidriksen and Else Pedersdatter. His first marriage was to Ellen Margrethe Jensdatter, who died in Hedensted in 1723. She was buried on August 15. They only had one son, Peder, who was born in 1719. One and a half month after Ellen Margrethe’s death Michel Knudsen married Anne Madsdatter on October 3, 1723 in St. Dalby. Their children were Mads Michelsen (1724), Else Michelsdatter (1727), Knud Michelsen (1733), Mette Michelsdatter (1735) and Ellen Margrethe Michelsdatter (1740). Mads, was christened on November 19, 1724. He married Ellen Andersdatter, who was a daughter of Anders Jensen Bisgaard Gjesager. In the record of copyholders from the manor of Bygholm we find that Michel Knudsen and his brother Vidrik Knudsen purchased the copyhold of the farm where their father lived. After their father’s death the two brothers had the copyhold of a half farm each. That is 4 tdr. hartkorn 3 fjk and 1½ alb.[1] for each of them. The document is dated April 19, 1721. Michel Knudsen died in 1747. He was buried in the churchyard of Hedensted on July 14, 1747.
