Friederich
Jacobsen Glaso was born on a farm named Brandstub in the parish of Raarup
probably around 1670. From registers of ratepayers we can see that he was living
on the farm in 1700. His parents were Jacob Glasso and Birgitte Pedersdatter.
It is believed that he had been married to a woman with the name of Ane Cathrine.
It is also a belief that she died without having any children.
Then he married Sophie Jensdatter. Their children were born in the years from
1714 to 1730: Jacob Friderichsen (born about 1714), Jens Friderichsen (born
about 1715), Broder Friderichsen (born about 1722), Niels Friderichsen (born
about 1724), Knud Friderichsen (born about 1726), Jochum Friderichsen (born
about 1727), Elisabeth Margrethe Friderichsdatter,
Nille
Cathrine Friedrichsdatter (born about 1720) and Birgitte Marie
Friderichsdatter (born about 1730).
Friedrich
Glasso was a freeholder, and it is believed he died in 1740. He left a wealthy
estate, and from the administration of his estate we can look at his supply of
silver:
1 silver cup with the letters FJS and SJDR engraved on it and the year 1725
1 silver cup with the letters PJG
1 silver cup with the letters NJD and KHD engraved on it and the year 1716
1 small silver cup with the letters FG and SJD and the year 1716
1 smaller silver cup with the same letters and the same year
8 silver spoons with broad handles, 2 of them with the letters SJDR and a year
2 small silver spoons with the letters NJSD and KHDR, and the year 1702
1 small silver spoon with the letters FG and SJD 1714
1 small silver with the letters BLB – DDD and a year
2 old silver spoons
The letters FJS
stand for Friederich Jacobsen, and FG stand for Friederich
Glasso. The letters SJDR and SJD stand for Sophie Jensdatter.
In all probability the cup with the letters PJG comes from the Glasso family
(the letter G stands for Glasso).
Friederich
Jacobsen Glasso and Sophie Jensdatter left a great posterity. The name Glasso
still exists, but now it is spelled Glassau.
